**** BY BUDGET CAR RENTAL

I rented a car through the international website (Expedia) and Budget would not honor my rental . They insisted that I produce an International Driving licence. I produced a perfectly valid South African driving licence but Budget would not recognize this. No where in the terms and conditions was it said that an international driving licence is required and as I am an South African citizen and was not going to travel outside our borders I immediately recognized this as a **** . Budget offered me the same car at more than twice the price based on my South African driving licence. On previous occasions Budget refused to honor my South African ID document and insisted on a passport in Vereeniging for car hire to Oliver Tambo Airport. No other car hire company acts like this and I think it is necessary to warn prospective clients of Budget that they do not honor bookings made on Expedia or Rent a car.
