Budget car rental Vereeniging branch - Avoid at all costs.

I recently booked a holiday where I required transport, and I decided to rent a car from budget. At first glance they have the best price and the Vereeniging branch was the closest to me. Thus my nightmare began.

Arriving at the Vereeniging branch, I was met by some low skilled, robotic figure. You know the type, doesn't really understand the reason for the policies or procedures, just follows them and repeats themselves to you like a machine. a Lemming, that will jump off a cliff behind another lemming, not really grasping why... Anyway, this lemming asked me for a credit card which I didn't have. I own one, and I understand the reasoning for having some kind of card on file for insurance purposes or identification purposes. But i drove 30kms to get there so I would like some form of understanding. I also know that other car rental agencies accept debit cards. I explained this to the lemming but he insisted on a the physical card. I went as far as to go to the nearest Absa, under his advisory to attain a credit card printout, that had everything on that my credit card would have, from the numbers, the name to the expiry date... The lady behind the till at Absa laughed when I explained how simple this lemming was being. When I presented and tried to explain that to said lemming, he looked me in the eyes and said, why didn't they give you the card... Now, normal individuals understand that a credit card, sent from cards division to be replaced etc. will take a few days. But wait, there's more. I insisted everything was on the printout he might need, and that at least, forced a reaction and he went around the corner to speak to someone... unfortunately the capability of this employee is truly due to the leadership he received and I was told no, I must present the plastic card. Like boss, like lemming.

I gave up, returned home, booked a car through Europcar and was on my way to a lovely holiday a few hours later than planned. People, price isn't always everything. Don't make my mistake, just ignore budget car rental, especially Vereeniging branch if you can. Spend a little more and save yourself the heartache and frustration of having to deal with idiots.
