Why are you making it so difficult to claim?
I am one of those people who depend a lot on their cars, I am a field IT tech. So what I do is I insure my car and even add the additional stuff, like mechanical warranties and dents cover.
Unfortunately I had my turbo blow on the 25th march 2015, so I called budget to claim. They said I must get a tow truck to tow my car to the dealer and have them look at it. So I did as they said, that cost me R750. At the dealer I was told that indeed the turbo needs to be replaced and would cost somewhere around R 20 k, but NMI policy doesn't allow them to call my insurance and claim on my behalf. They suggested that I pay with cash and they will provide me any reports I need to submit to Budget. I called Budget to let them know about this, but the consultant said the most confusing and senseless thing I ever heard which is that the dealer must call and claim for me. I didn't even get a claim number after 5 calls to budget who I pay my premium not the dealer, till today I don't have a claim number. The dealer called me several times to come and fetch the car, that's another R750 and another R750 for diagnostics.
Currently using taxis but I has car rental assist as a benefit.
