Unsatisfactory inspection and service
About a month ago my wife was involved in a car accident where the third party was at fault with our 2016 Renault Clio 1.2 Authentique. Few days later we were called by a budget insurance representative informing us that our car would was going to be repaired and an access of R9600 is required (which is understandable). But with that being said we were also informed that repaira towards the car are worth R93 700.00. I furthermore called my banker and our other representative to ask of the repairs were worth the car being fixed and based on all financial decisions non of them agreed with the decision. I furthermore called budget to ask for the Market Value of the car which I was informed that it is R125 000.00. I called Budget to ask again the following questions:
1. Is a car worth R125k worth being repaired for R93 700? 2. Did they take it into consideration what/how repairs worth R93 700 are going to affect the value of the car (the bigger the expense, the bigger the damage, the bigger depreciation value of the car)? 3. Did they calculate/take into consideration all unforeseen damages? 4. Why wasn’t the car written off with that great damage? 5. Should the car give me any problems what then (since the wheel of the car almost came off in the accident and cv joint completely broken)? 6. There was oil leaking from the car after the accident, did they check 100% if the gearbox of the car isn’t damaged? 7. How can they continue after the fix to cover my car for R125k while the car won’t be worth R125k anymore? 8. Can I get a list from the inspection of all parts that are going to be repaired? 9. As clients, what does this tell us about their services?
I could not get an answer to any of those questions. I was furthermore told that a person in charge of our case would contact us before 10:00am on Monday (16th April) but no one has actually called me. I was even given numbers and an email for a person who inspected my car and told to contact them for answers to my questions (but that is not my job).
Now here I am and asking for answers to my questions.
