UNNECESSARY DELAY IN FINALISING CLAIM

I was involved in an accident over a month ago. I lodged the claim the day after. there was complete silence on the part of Budget Insurance with regard to the finalisation of the claim. I was given feedback but nothing meaningful. ONLY THREE WEEKS after the incident was I requested to sign a permission letter. I rep**** to the email by stating: I note your email but have a few concerns;

1. I am concerned that it has been three weeks and I am only being requested for this now.

2. It would seem that the consent is very broad and quite invasive. I am not sure what the purpose of such a broad consent is. I think the information requested is personal and might not be relevant for purposes of the claim.

3. I would like to know under which clause of the insurance contract am I expected to grant such consent?

4. While I am willing to cooperate, I am merely seeking an understanding of the purpose of the consent.

I received a response merely quoting the policy document to which I responded:

Good day Jaco

Thank you for your response.

I am not certain that the concerns have been adequately addressed.

In fact i do not think that the request is reasonable under the clause quoted considering the broadness of the permission all under the guise of "reasonable request". It should be better explained as to which aspect does the insurer need consent for, for purposes of the claim. i am certain that i will be granting permission for things listed but not all things pertain to me or my claim, yet i have granted permission for it.

Further, it is still not explained why the request was brought to me 3 weeks after the incident. This just means that it will take very long to finalise the claim.

Be that as it may, i have attached the consent letter and hope this will result in the claim being finalised swiftly. The claim has taken too long.

with all of this being said, I received an email stating:

Mr Sekhethela Received, thank you

My concerns have not been addressed at all and nothing is being said about the length of the claim. today I was told that an expert would be appointed. I do not know how long this will take and when will the claim be finalised.

I have been reaching calls from the car rental company stating that I should return the vehicle because Budget has not rented the vehicle for the full period of my contract. they have been extending it by five days and etc which causes me unnecessary stress and having to send emails and make calls for the extension of the car rental. This is utterly unnecessary.

My business is being affected by this and I am unable to sustain it. Meanwhile, I have been paying the instalment of a vehicle that has been written off. I am also still paying the insurance premium. The service completely ********** and is amounting to bullying at this rate!!
