Unfair Claim Process - Split Claim - Demanded to pay double excess for one accident

Hello Peter

Despite providing clear evidence of the damages sustained in the accident, Budget Insurance has chosen to split the claim into two, requiring me to pay an additional excess for damages of the same accident.

The accident was reported to the SAPS Station on the same day, with a single case number covering all damages. All necessary documentation, including sketches, SAPS Accident Reports, affidavits, and photographs, demonstrating the damages that were sustained to the front and back of my vehicle on the same incident were submitted.

Budget Insurance communicated that my claim was approved. My vehicle was subsequently booked in for repairs. When called to collect my vehicle by the appointed panela beaters after one month I was told that only part of the repairs to the vehicle were approved. Even the part they claim was approved for repairs has not been repaired fully by the panel beaters. Panel beaters claim they were still waiting for some part to fully complete the repair to the vehicle.

Budget Insurance informed that I register a separate claim for the rest of the damages which would attract an additional excess.

The Claims Department do not respond within the promised timeframes. After following up to obtain status quo I was informed that the claim had been finalised and closed.

I requested that my claim be reassessed transparently considering all the supporting documents submitted, that repairs are authorised for damages sustained in the accident without splitting the claim and coercing me to pay an additional excess and that a revised settlement reflecting the true extent of the be provided. To date nothing there has been no communication from Budget Insurance.

The lack of transparency and fairness in the claims process is appalling and the level of professionalism from the Claims Department very undesirable. As such I hope the Holding Company of Budget Insurance can intervene.

Extremely disappointed and frustrated.
