Refusal to allow me to read contract, in PDF and sign and THEN send back by Budget

I was contacted by Thabang for a quote for a motor warranty. Whilst the deal sounds good, what is covered and what is not covered. We got to "major sensors" and he could not explain, if it is parking sensors or engine sensors. Then when we got to the part where he wants to process when payment must go off, i backed off because as a matter of principle I don't conclude contractual agreements without having something in writing. How difficult can it be to (1) send me the contract in PDF (2) I read through it, including the fine print (3) I sign and send it back. NOPE, Budget does not do business like that. I bought a motor service plan from VW, all online, via PDF, which i signed and sent back. In this age of online *****, it is easier to conclude a contract telephonically than in writing. That is worrying. Well you just lost a sale..

Hi Kevin,  thank you for sharing your experience with us.

We’re truly sorry to hear about the frustration you encountered during the quotation process. We understand and respect your preference to review contractual documents in writing before making any commitments — that’s a completely reasonable expectation.

We regret that the process did not meet your expectations, especially regarding clarity around the product coverage and the inability to provide the contract in PDF format for review.

Please be advised that your matter will be escalated to the relevant department to assist you.

Kind regards,
The Budget Team

Firstly, my name is "Kelvin". secondly, i have not received any further feedback. Is it standard business practice in Budget Insurance to expect people to conclude legal contracts verbally? Eish!!
