Loyalty doesn't pay with Budget
I've been a loyal customer with Budget since 2010with everything covered by them. You'd think this matters but doesn't.We're recently victims of a ******* with some jewellery&cash taken.Fortunately,it wasn't alot of items but was a lesson to show what our patronage was worth to Budget. The jewellery(all 18ct) was of most significance cos it had sentimental value. The bangles had receipts so there was no excuse for Budget to skimp on that. However, with 15yrs&2 house moves later,it's not unimaginable that the evaluations&receipts for the wedding&21st rings would've been misplaced.Unfortunately,it's all business to Budget&since our word didn't mean much, they rated the rings as 9ct.These rings were for my wife 21st & wedding...9ct?That's an insult! You'd think there'd be some intuition in the assessment. Also, apparently we weren't adequately covered.Yet at no point did Budget ever advise me of this.Only at the time of payment they conveniently say we weren't adequately covered.Only one who's been thru this will truly understand. We didn't lose a lot, except the sentimental value but it's a lesson learnt. After 6yrs,I think it's time I give Outsurance a call&possibly move my 3 cars&2 buildings.
We acknowledge receipt of your complaint.
We are sorry to hear about the *******, it is never easy to go through such an experience.
As discussed with one of our Customer Relation Specialists, please understand that the only time we will request proof of purchase for your insured items will be during the event of a claim. The reason why we request prove of purchase is not only to confirm the item existed, but also to make sure that we replace the correct item (in the event of a claim)
It is unfortunate that we did not receive prove of purchase on the items you have claimed for and the claim was therefore settled based on entry level.
In view of the above we have requested that you are contacted by our claims department to discuss the matter further. Please expect a call from us today.
Kind regards,
The Budget Insurance Team.
