Insurance Pay-Out Value
So I had a car accident on the 2nd of October 2024. My car was written off, and budget ran their checks, and then later approved the claim on the 11th of October. Then, I was advised of my options (being vehicle substitutio and paying the bank), and I opted for the former. The consultant (Nobuhle Cebe) handling my claim told me that the insurer has approved that the claim amount will be a max of R194500. When I asked her how they derived that value, she told me that they used some graph to get that value, This is bogus! I cannot accept a value simply because of some graph derived. This is pure incompetence A few days later, I had to call them again. They never called me even after I told them multiple times that I am not happy with the value. On (16 October ) Wednesday, they told me that they got the R194K by using the average of (1) checking how much a VW dealer is selling my car for and how much a VW dealer is selling the car for in Fourways Johannesburg. How come they are using Durban as an input to get to my proposed insured value while I would not even get a car in Durban. A lay knows that cars in Durban tend to be cheap, and they are now trying to rip me off. They want to keep the insured value as low as possible whereas I even insured that value at Retail Value! How does this make sense? They further asked for the invoice of my car when I got in 2022, which had a total value of R267K. As we speak, Nobuhle no longer responds to my emails, and the last thing she said was that the matter was escalated. This is bull****, and I told them multiple times that I need to have a car by next week Thrusday since I have to attend a wedding. Nx
