I was insured with Budget Insurance for less than 6 months when I got into an accident and they paid out the whole amount to pay off the car which was written off

I was insured with Budget Insurance for less than 6 months when I got into an accident and they paid out the whole amount to pay off the car which was written off. And I have just negotiated a better deal as my car is depreciating daily and it doesn't make sense to pay huge a huge amount monthly. Thank you
