FAILURE TO HONOUR CLAIM

My business partner and I were on our way to visit a farm in Lephalale when our chief technician phone to aske if he could borrow money for fuel for his car in order to get home to his wife and family. We told him that we were on the road and unable to help but that he could use that company vehicle to get home with.

He did not have permission to use the vehicle for any other purpose.

It is claimed that he got drunk and crashed the vehicle as about 10h00 that night. We were called by a tow truck driver who asked us which insurance company we were with and when we said Budget, he told us we would never get paid out.

We submitted our claim upon returning and on 7 October George Hilse tried to contact me to advise that our claim had been rejected. The reason given was that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and they also claimed that we had not fully disclosed facts (a lie in my opinion).

We cannot be held responsible for the actions on an employee who acted without permission or authority and who caused us loss. I also understand that a blood test was done around four hours after the incident.

Hello bagoas,

We acknowledge receipt of your complaint.

One of our Customer Relation Specialists contacted you and discussed the claim/outcome of the claim with you.
We also confirm that our Internal Dispute Resolution department contacted you on Friday and conveyed the outcome of your dispute with you. We are really sorry about your circumstances around the incident, but, after careful consideration we confirm that the decision to reject the claim was in fact the correct decision. In view of the above we have no option but to close the complaint.

Regards,
