Extended Warranty Plan

Extended Warranty Plan claim refused. I had the option of taking an extended warranty with VW or with budget and went with Budget as it was cheaper. I put in my 1st claim a week ago for a clutch that has a mechanical fault. The assessor came out and verified that the car has a clutch problem. He then saw a replacement exhaust and said the claim is declined. The original Catalytic converter was blocked and it was recommended by vw to do a replacement with a local exhaust company as the vehicle was out of warranty. VW also was confused why the claim was declined as the clutch has nothing to do with the exhaust. So it sounds like Budget has voided my entire warranty after paying premiums for 2 years. This makes not sense and seems like a way not to pay the claim. VW said they would had paid out if I had a VW extended warranty. I will take this to Ombudsman if not resolved.
