Budget Rejection

My Samsung television's HDMI inputs stopped working all of a sudden while watching TV. A claim was logged and the tv collected by their service provider. After a week the report from the service provider stated that it was due to liquid damage and the claim was rejected. Upon receipt of tv I took it to an accredited repair centre that found it was indeed a power surge as there was no sign of liquid damage as per their service provider. I sent the report to Budget disputes division and was assured a response of 5 to 7 working days. I eventually got a reply after 2 weeks and rejection of my repair centre report. Now they are saying that it's wear and tear. How can a tv set have wear and tear besides failing from years of power outages and power surges? My policy states that I'm covered for power surges but they are rejecting it. It is a well known fact worldwide that television sets do not just blow up and stop working for nothing or due to wear and tear. In my case the hdmi unit stopped working. When I spoke to Samsung Technical Services the technician said it's common for certain components to stop working if not the full tv set due to power surges. In my case the hdmi unit on mainboard. It's for this unforeseen instances that we insure our goods. Otherwise what is the point of having insurance?
