My brother in-law stole my spare keys and used my car without my consent and the vehicle was involved in an accident and was written off under these circumstances. Budget insurance in repudiating my claim disregarded evidence placed before them. Budget alleged that my brother-in-law was drunk at the time of accident thus rejected my claim. 3. I argued that the drunken state or not of the driver is irrelevant to my claim since the driver used my vehicle without my permission, to this end I even submitted the case docket of use of vehicle without owner’s permission. This was also corroborated in the interview conducted by Budget insurance with the accident officer (Police Officer). This interview is on record. In fact, the accident officer in corroborating my claim states in the interview that the driver had to use the spare key that was left at home as he did not have permission to use the vehicle. (Hebron SAPS interview). This evidence was ignored and only considered what favoured them.

As a consequence, I am financially severely prejudiced.

I urge all South Africans to flee from Budget insurance and look for credible short-Term Insurance Companies.
