Budget Assisted a Seemingly Vehicle Dealership **** that Ran Away R16500.00 (Deposit),whilst they Debited R3064.90 Premium for Vehicle they still Do Not Have Vehicle Registration ,Vin and Engine Number forr

On the 18th of May 2016, whilst trying to purchase a vehicle from a Johannesburg dealership (me residing in Cape Town), I got a call from Miss Tishana Mellisa Pothan from Budget Insurance, who told me that she got my details from the a sales agent of a dealership they (as Budget Insurance) work in cooperation or arrangement with to offer insurance to the clients that purchase vehicles from that dealership because the car can only be released to the purchaser only if it is insured. During the conversation she informed me that the vehicle sales agent that was selling me the vehicle is has given her my details because that's how they normally communicate should there be a client purchasing a vehicle from that dealership. The cover I got was R2 618.00 per month, and she advised that as soon as the vehicle was released/delivered to me,the vehicle sales agent will then inform her at which a calculated amount that should cover the remaining days of the month would be deducted, after-which the normal R2 618.00 monthly premium would then be deducted on the 1st of June 2016. The vehicle was Not delivered on the promised 27th of May by the Dealer, yet Budget Insurance debited an amount of R 446.90 from my account. on about the the 30th of May I made a call to Budget informing them that the vehicle they have debited for have not been delivered yet. On the 31st of May Budget Insurance again debited an amount of R 2 604.60 from my bank account. All the while I have been trying to clear the issue with the dealer and on the 15th of June I then realized that not only Budget Insurance has been debiting a vehicle that has not been delivered to me, but also that they still do Not have the Vehicle Registration number,Engine and Vin Number of the vehicle for which they have debited my account twice for. Makes me wonder for which vehicle cover were the debits made? I therefore made a call to Budget Insurance on the 15th of June, informed them of the debits and the fact that I was now getting suspicious about the legitimacy of the dealership and stated that getting a call from a budget insurance agent that informed me of the working relationship Budget Insurance, trusting the brand Budget Insurance made me comfortable to make a deposit payment of R 15000.00 to the dealership.I was told that the matter will be sent to the legal department who will assist me. I got a call on the same day from the very Budget Insurance agent who then requested the contact details of the dealer from me, I gave him both the landline number and the cellphone number of the vehicle sales agent I dealt with (who was no longer answering my calls). The Budget Insurance agent phoned back to inform me that according to the dealership the only reason my vehicle was not delivered is that I needed to pay a further R5000.00 as the amount was smaller for the vehicle and if I was not willing (as I had stated to the dealership about a week before), then they would refund me the R15000.00 deposit I had already paid. I then communicated with the dealer on the same day and informed me that as a result of the vehicle not delivered I have had to hire a car to travel to work with at a cost of about R6500.00 for a month and cannot afford to pay any more amount towards this vehicle. The Vehicle Dealership sales agent told me he had a discussion with his boss and have agreed that they would accept a R2500.00, but still I honestly did Not have that amount either, they then came down to R1500.00 and promised a vehicle delivery in 72Hours.Again Trusting the hand of Budget Insurance on this process I then paid the R1500.00 on the 15th June 2016 (making the total deposit paid R16500.00). The Vehicle has Not been delivered to this day (5 days later) after the Vehicle Sales agent has sent me messages informing me that they were leaving Johannesburg en-route to my address in Cape Town on Thursday 16th of June 2016. On Friday they switched off their phones and last sent me a message that says the can only pay me back the deposit on the 5th of July 2016,which is the same trend as the first failed delivery of the 27th May,the Dealer had promised to refund my deposit on the 3rd of June and they never did. So it seems clear that I am being ****med of my hard earned cash and Budget Insurance, a brand I trusted has assisted the **** Not once but two times, whilst also cashing in an amount of R 3 064.90 (amount Debited from my account by Budget Insurance. I therefore seek the following: 1. Budget Insurance must reverse (credit/pay back to my account) the amount debited by Budget Insurance on my Account with interest. 2. Pay me back the R16500.00 they assisted the dealership ******** solicit from me via the use of their trusted brand and by the confirmations of two budget agents of the validity and legitimacy of the dealership. 3. Recover the vehicle hiring costs I have incurred as a result of this fiasco. My Budget Insurance Policy Number is: ********** 51

It is strange and a completely unfair investigating process that you have taken, in that except for the written complaint I have submitted you have not even contacted me for clarity and further confirmation of facts, which in any investigation will always be necessary.

The result of this is you making a conclusion that I was referred by the dealer to your insurance company, and that's totally untrue. It is your agent Miss Tishana Mellisa Potham who called me and stated that you have a working relationship with the dealership I was in the process of buying a vehicle from and Not the other way round.

In your above mail you state that it was solely my decision to ,thereby implying that your brand name involvement had no influence on "trusting" the legitimacy" and business practice standards of the said dealership, and You Are Wrong.

I have a Life insurance cover with Budget Insurance, policy number: ********** 33 .And at the time of your agent calling me (on the 18th of May 2016) I was still verifying the legitimacy of the business I was intending to purchase a vehicle from.I had Not yet made a deposit payment to the Dealer, only after your agent confirmed that Budget has a working relationship with that dealer that I then made deposit payment of R 15 000.

You further make another assumption, that there was a delivery cost involved, because once again you chose to take the word of the offenders and never did any further interview with the offended person. I have signed a contract that makes no mention of the delivery cost and therefore the dispute is not at all about the delivery cost, but about a vehicle dealership con, that you as a trusted brand have assisted by aligning and speak on their behalf as you continue to do now on your mail ("I am sure that they must have mentioned the delivery costs to you prior to you making the decision to proceed with the purchase.").

I want you to understand the following:

I am totally unhappy with your reply and still seek compensation for the damages (as I have stated on the Hello-Peter and Budget Insurance Facebook page complaint) that I incurred as a result of your involvement in the saga .
Cancel the vehicle policy and credit my account immediately
As a result of the sarcastic and pathetic manner in which you Louis Fortuin has handled my complaint ,I will be contacting the Life Policy department to cancel the life cover I have with Budget Insurance
If your email represents the final conclusion of Budget Insurance on the matter, I will take it way much further that your platform, I was merely following the procedure and still hoping there's some decency and healthy business practice within the brand budget, but clearly your email states it clear that you have no sense of responsibility for your actions as a business brand.

Dear Mr Tom

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to thoroughly investigate the matter.

Whilst we empathise with your current circumstances; unfortunately; Budget Insurance had no involvement in terms of referring you to this specific dealership that you purchased the vehicle from. This was solely your decision to make use of them. I am sure that they must have mentioned the delivery costs to you prior to you making the decision to proceed with the purchase.

In addition it is very common for dealerships to refer prospective clients through to different insurance companies in order to assist them to get the vehicle insured prior to the vehicle leaving their premises.

We can most certainly assure you that we are in no way affiliated with this dealership in any way. They just happened to ask Budget Insurance to assist with the cover on the vehicle at the time.

If you are still not in possession of the vehicle; we can arrange for our underwriting department to cancel the policy and refund all the premiums that were deducted thus far.

Kindly advise whether we should proceed to do so. Trust to hear from you soon.

Kind regards
