********* and Unprecedented Short Term Insurance Practices
Claim 59-7*** and SPM No SPM 484383/7/19
They have moved my policy from one insurer to the other, confirming that the cover will be as is of which a new policy was provided, but no Policy Wording from the new company which is Renasa by the way. The initial schedule reflected an inception date of the 1 January 2019 and to be reviewed in May 2019. On 01 April my policy was reviewed without my consent and the cover was changed which in turn affected my premium (More premium to Less cover). I have made numerous attempts to solicit reasons for the change, I have never received any. Now I have lodged a claim for an incident that occurred on 23 February 2019 and was reported to the nearby police station within the prescribed 24 hours, but they (Axsure) and Renasa have declined my claim solely on the basis that I had not informed them within 30 days. The initial Policy Wording I was supp**** with, which was from the previous insurer (LION of AFRICA) does recommend informing the insurer within 30 days, but subsequent to that it suggests that the event (accident) be reported to the nearby Police Station "as soon as reasonably possible". Furthermore the Policy wording also states that "The Company (Insurer) will not be liable after 12 (twelve) months have expired from the date of the defined event giving rise to a claim... and my claim falls within this stipulated time frame.
