BT Games not folowing rules

Bought an Xbox one from BT games boksburg 3 weeks ago and now there is something wrong with the rom, phoned them and the child on the phone told me after 14 days they can not exchange it and he can only give me the number for microsoft. The console has a 1 year waranty but only 14 days with them, this is their policy. I Then informed him that the The consumer protection act says your waranty has to be six months to exchange. His reply was he would get into trouble with management if he folowed the law and not their policy. I take it the management in this company needs a lesson in the law?
