Bryanston Veterinary Hospital - a very bad experience

I have just had my first and last experience with Bryanston Veterinary Hospital . I am not used to write reviews on companies but this was too much . My cat got hit by a car , in front of my eyes . Happily she could still run to the side of the road where I picked her up . She moved and was clear but I took her for a check up to BVH . At the reception they immediately took her to the back and I had to fill in all kinds of forms and pay a deposit of R 5000. Then the veterinary came to us , to explain that she had no fractures , but was put on oxygen and that she needed to be admitted to check further . I was not happy with this but agreed . She announced that it would be minimum R6000 to R8000 . in the morning they called to tell that she needed to be operated on her bladder ,it was a perineal hernia with bladder entrapment , life threatening and had to be operated soonest. Price R 16 000 . I agreed but said I wanted to see a veterinary before and my cat . They were not happy with it , normally I couldn t see anyone ( Covid rules ) but finally agreed . The surgeon vet came without the cat and explained again why he had to operate . I agreed , but told him I did not want her to stay a week , she was better of at home. He was immediately on the defensive side and said that I had the right to take her but I needed to sign an agreement for non- treatment . He left and someone else brought our cat , who was looking a bit sedated but quite ok and happy to hear us . She was operated and the vet called me to say it went all great , but he did t do all of it because he didn t want the anesthesia to be too long . At 10.30 in the evening we got a call from an assistant that she suddenly " crashed ' and she was dead. Without saying sorry .. I was devastated , because I know my cat and she was doing fine just that afternoon. I asked to meet with the veterinary again , came at 10.30 next day , but there was no one to explain to me . I took an appointment at 3.30 again , the vet came 15 minutes late , when I told the receptionist that I was still waiting ,she took it badly and then turned to her collegues to say that she was going home early now , if she had one other mad client ... Her collegues appologized for her rudeness after a while . Then came the vet , took us into an office , there was another veterinary present , not the one that did the operation.They explained again what they did , showed me some x rays , but the bladder bulge was not visible on it they said ... They explainedto me that I had a trust problem and that of course it couldn t work like that. I asked the file and x -rays and they brought me the frozen cat , who was not even put into a nice position as if asleep , but lying straight . They advised me to let her "warm up " a bit , to be able to put her in a box . I have never seen anything like this , I have seen many vets and had many cats who also had accidents , but I have always trusted the veterinaries and their treatments , even when the outcome is sad sometimes . This was just not right from the beginning , the most important thing was money , not my cats well being. It feels like a trap , and you can almost not get out of it . I am going to seek advice and file a complaint .
