Unprofessional Service and Unfulfilled Promises: A Costly Lesson

I recently encountered a review of this company that closely mirrored my own experience, and I felt it was important to share my story to help others considering their services.

Linda from Bryanston Recruitment Services reached out to me via LinkedIn, offering to create a custom, professional resume and update my LinkedIn profile. She referenced several former colleagues for whom she claimed to have successfully delivered similar services, which lent an initial sense of credibility to her proposal.

I agreed to the service, paying R4,400, with the promise of a 2-day turnaround. However, the final product, which I only received a month later, fell far below expectations. While the design template was passable, the content was poorly crafted, overly simplistic, and entirely irrelevant to my industry.

Despite my disappointment, I was open to collaborating with her to refine the output and achieve an acceptable result. Unfortunately, my attempts were met with unprofessional and even rude responses. I was told, among other things, that I had no business making suggestions, that I didn’t understand how a resume should look, and that I shouldn’t question her expertise. This lack of professionalism made it impossible to work together constructively.

Out of concern, I decided to reach out to some of the colleagues Linda had mentioned in her initial communication. To my dismay, I learned they had experienced similar issues, including unfulfilled promises and lost fees. They, too, were left with unusable outputs and no recourse.

Adding insult to injury, Linda blocked me on LinkedIn, which not only hindered my ability to leave feedback but also prevented me from warning others in my network. It’s concerning to think she may continue referencing me as a “satisfied client,” which is far from the truth.

In the end, I was left R4,400 out of pocket with a product I couldn’t use. I eventually had to hire another professional service provider to deliver what I initially paid her for.

Since I’m unable to share this on LinkedIn due to the block, I hope anyone researching her services comes across this review and reconsiders engaging with her company. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend avoiding her services altogether.
