Broken engagement ring, faulty claws & bad service

The band of my R20 000 engagement ring which was bought in 2014 recently snapped completely. The consultant that first dealt with the issue did not make any attempt to keep in touch with us and we had to make numerous calls and a visit to the store to resolve the matter. From the outset it was clear that Browns was not interested in taking any responsibility and we were made to feel that we had caused the damage ourselves, despite there being no incident or trauma to the ring (I happened to look at my ring one day and noticed a complete break in the band). The store manager became involved but my ring was repaired without our consent (I was hoping to send it off for a second opinion as to the cause of the damage). We were forced to pay R400 for the repairs done without our consent. Browns refuse to acknowledge the poor workmanship (my ring was resized 8 months prior to this incident) and soon after the purchase of the ring I found that the claws seemed to have a defect which Browns denied at the time. I have since read other complaints about claws with defects and diamonds/stones falling out.To this day I still have no proper explanation for the broken band.Browns cannot be trusted!
