BAD QUALITY JEWELERY AND SERVICE
I am extremely disappointed in Browns Jewelry store and will never support them again. My husband bought my engagement ring from Brown Jewelry store in Somerset West, Western Cape, South Africa when he just started working and paying off student loans. He worked really hard ro afford it. Four years later my stone fell out of the ring when the claws broke off. This happened after I got the ring made smaller by Browns a year after wearing it. This time around I consulted a professional jeweler who advised me that the design of the ring is at fault and that she would recommend setting the stone into stronger claws. She also said that there was no evident line where the ring itself was made smaller and she suspects the ring was replaced to a smaller ring size. I went back to the same store and gave the feedback supp**** to me and expressed my unhappiness with my ring. The sales person Michael convinced us that the jeweler does not know what she is talking about and that Browns sends yearly reminders to service your ring via email (of which I have not received any communication of). He also advised that their jewelers make rings so well that you would not see the joined line where my ring was made smaller. We gave in and seeing as it needed fixing decided to get the claws reset and the ring resized smaller as it was still too big. They sent it away for two weeks again When I received my ring back this week my engraved ring was replaced without my knowledge and the invoice did not stipulate anything about replacing the ring. It specified resetting the stone and reducing the size of my ring. This time my ring has a different serial number and was NOT even engraved which to me is proof that was the jeweler said was true. Browns did not even consult us on replacing my ring. When my husband went back to complain it came out that they replaced my ring the first time it was sent away and we never received a new certificate for the new serial number. We were again also not consulted on replacing my ring. For me personally my ring has lost all sentiment and meaning and has just become a painful reminder of really bad quality service and jewelery. They sent my ring away again to be engraved free of charge which is the only apology we get. I will soon be resetting my ring with a private jeweler to ensure that this time it is precious, personal and sentimental to me. I will never support Browns Jewellers again.
