We were given a quote, to pack our entire contents and were advised by John Barrie that everything would fit into 20ft container. We were advised the container would arrive on packing day and we could lock the container personally when the container was packed, this is when we should have realized things were going south, no container just a small truck. When i asked the guys what was happening they said they were instructed to pack our things over three days and take them back to the warehouse and they would be loaded into a container there. I paid close to R87 000 in cash when the last truck load was done

Packing was done in June 2018 and we requested our container to arrive in Brisbane 1st week of December 2018 Before our container left we were advised there had been a change in shipping rate and we needed to pay in an additional $1400 This payment was made

My hubby moved into our new house in the first week in December and contacted BIR - container had not arrived My girls and I arrived on 18th December to an empty house

The excuse given to us by BIR was that our container was stuck in customs and we needed to pay more money because our container needed to be fumigated, so we paid in an additional $890

Finally, in January our container arrives happiness....short lived

Stuff was broken, boxes were packed and were half empty, but worst of all half our stuff was missing ...to name a few, a brand new tumble dryer, brand new deep freeze, a recently passed family members furniture we had been given We received 2 pieces of a 3 piece lounge suite, the chairs to our dining room table and not a table, the table to my outside patio set and no chairs just to name a few

I contacted John Barrie and there was excuse after excuse In March 2019 I flew over to SA for a funeral and I paid a visit to BIR office, I was shown all my stuff and told that unfortunately the guy who was in charge of my packing passed away two weeks after our house was packed up and there was some confusion and things were left in a mess but they were sorting it out and looking to get the balance of ur load onto a shared container. John advised that because it was a mess from their side he was putting in R7000 out of his own pocket for us to get our stuff

April and we still have no firm answer as to when we are getting our stuff, and every time i call the GM is in a meeting or out of town but they will get back to me

Weekly for April, I received the same excuse

30th April we receive an email "Good day Sandy, I have tried all companies for accommodating balance of and Brisbane is very slow, I have spoken to Mr Nienaber and there will be cost involved to get your cargo to your destination.- R 11682 . 00, sorry for the inconvince. Thanks John

We were initially quoted approx R87 000 to get our stuff from Johannesburg to Queensland We have paid to date R109 900 And now they are requesting a further R 11 682

I feel we are getting the wool pulled over our eyes and getting ********** by British International Removals and I don't think we are are the first to experience this
