Canad Abroad: Shocking Updates on the General IELTS Training Test; Since early this year we have a noticed a large change in the marking of the General Training IELTS Test. Compared to the past three years the writing marks have decreased substantially. Talks with British Council assured us that there have been no changes to the marking system. However, recent re-marks obtained by our clients have seen writing marks increase by one full mark or more. Once client's score increased from 5.5 to 7.0! We want to hear from you! I went to write the IETLS General Training test in July 2018 and received a 6.5 mark on the Writing portion of the exam. Believing that the British Council upholds a very high professional and ethical standard I went to write the same test in November 2018 again in order to increase this specific score. The reason being that we required a higher threshold to have the appropriate marks for immigrating to Canada. Once more I received a score of 6.5 on the Writing section and so being gave up on our plans. On 13 December 2018 we received an email that suggested ********** actives might be at play specifically on the Writing portion of the test as stated in the paragraph above.

I have now called the South African British Council to demand a rewrite on the second test at no additional charge and currently waiting for feedback on the matter.
