Missing luggage

I had to fly over to the UK from South Africa on 3rd January 2022 arriving in Heathrow on the morning of 4th January for my Mam’s funeral which was on 7th January. As you can imagine I was very emotional and to add to this my suitcase did not arrive in London. I had to go through the stress of filling out lost luggage forms etc before getting a few trains to get to my final destination in the North West of England. On arriving in Carlisle my brother had to take me shopping to get essential clothing which I thought would be for one night possibly. The bill came to £36.30. I could have bought a lot more but didn’t want to have to bring them back on my return flight! The suitcase finally arrived on the morning of Fri 7th January, the day of the funeral. I had to run round borrowing boots and warm coats from family members as the suitcase was scheduled to be delivered after the start of the funeral. I also had to arrange for someone to be at my brother’s house to wait for the delivery! I wrote a complaint to British Airways and they said how sorry they were for my inconvenience and a month later paid me the £36.30.

I am very disappointed as I didn’t need more stress at that sad time and it was not my fault that the suitcase went missing in the first place. I thought they would at least compensate me for all the stress I went through too.
