The irritations of incompetency

On 27th June 2016 I made an airline booking with British airlines using 'Avios'{airmiles ]for a flight from Johannesburg to Capetown. This flight was confirmed--Reference No.Z3519Q on Flight BA6417 for 27th December 2016.At the same time the airport tax of R700-00 was paid.On arrival at the BA check in desk we were informed by the clerk that the seats and tickets had not been processed. She then referred us to the BA reservations desk to rectify the matter. The clerk the could not rectify the matter and attempted to contact an official of th BA Executive Club, using my cell phone,to obtain authorization. This was unsuccessful and I was sent to the BA baggage section on the ground floor because the baggage supervisor was the only BA official able to make international calls.Although he made several attempts to contact the BA executive club in th UK this too was unsuccessful.I was then sent back up to the resevations desk where the supervisor informed me that without the necessary authorition she could not overide the system.I was told that my only alternative was to purchase new tickets ,this at a cost of R4056-56 and to pursue the matter wth the BA customer relationsDepartment on my return.Since all our arrangements were in place in CAPETOWN I really had no choice .On my return to Johannesburg I wrote to the customer relations departmenton ,10th January 2017, to which I received an automated reply that they were experiencing high volumes of correspondence and would revert to me in due course. It is now the 28th January and still no response. What I require is a full refund and an apology.I may add that I am 80 years old and being sent from pillar to post at the airport was not appreciated.Could you please give them a wake-up call !
