British Airways Executive Club False Advertising

I am curious as to why we bother with British Airways Executive Club, I have been a member for over 30 years and only been able to book one rewards flight in all that time, British Airways does not respond to emails in this regard. I have close to half a million rewards miles but flights are never available, the one flight I did manage to get I logged on at one minute past midnight GMT exactly 12 month prior to wanting to fly and managed to book, despite it being a year in advance they wanted the airport taxes (R14K) there and then. I believe British Airways should be taken to task by the South African consumer protection act for false advertising because what is the point of collecting reward miles when there are never any seats available.
