Good for hardware. Bad for biltong.
I love Brights for the hardware, the range, rewards programme and proximity to where I stay. Was pleasantly surprised to see a good range of Carne biltong and droëwors products at the cashiers queue at the Montague Park branch. My first two purchases of this were enjoyable. Therefore, when I bought the Wildebees biltong there about a month ago and opened it at home, I considered it the exception that more than half of the contents were covered in mould. I bought another bag of Carne Eland biltong there during the past week. It appeared fine in store. When I got home and opened it, to transfer to another container, the contents in the centre of the packet was covered in mould again. Perhaps it's my mistake for buying biltong at a hardware store, but this isn't the cheapest product, claims to be "Premium Quality" and if you stock it, one expects it to be edible. I've never experienced this problem with Carne products before, when purchasing it elsewhere. I am thus concerned that the stock at Brights may not be moving fast enough off the shelves and get too hot and humid; resulting in the mould. Would really appreciate it if the store could check their stock more regularly for mould and remove the affected packages, or take it up with their supplier.
Please accept our sincerest apologies for the experience you have had with the biltong,
We ensure we will review with the supplier and ensure the products are to the expected standard for consumption.
