Bridgestone SA - Refuses to care about customer safety

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am utterly disappointed and furious with the customer service received by bridgestone. I submitted a claim which has been declined as a factory fault and has been advised that the cause was due to penetration to the tread, I would like to know how so is this possible in the state of the tyre. Clearly this could not have been a penetration issue but a poor quality control process done on tyres! It shows the customer safety had dropped significantly and they do not care about customer service.

I had purchased 4 brand new tyres in the month of December 2017 at the Stanger Supa-Quick branch. The tyre size is 205/40/17. A month later on the 24th of January 2018 i was driving home on my way from work when i had a blow out on my tyre. I felt a vibration and the vehicle beginning to lost stability i stopped immediately when i realized this and jumped out of the car with 3 work colleagues as witness to this event.

The rear passenger tyre had a complete cut around the side wall. It looked like someone had taken a blade and slit right through it! Yet Bridgestones assessment center seems to feel otherwise that this issue was due to penetration to the tyre causing just the side wall to tear and no physical damage to the tread was visible.

I reported the tyre fault to Supa quick Stanger on the 26th of January 2018, as this is the branch i purchased the tyre's from i was advised the tyre needs to be sent in for accessing at Bridgestone. I completed necessary documentation and awaited 2 weeks patiently for a response. Please bear in mind during this two week period i was left without a tyre and had to loan a tyre from a friend to use in the interim. I was not in a good financial state to just replace the tyre, and besides i was hoping Bridgestone would acknowledge the tyre being a month old and the cause of the damage to the tyre seemed unnatural.

I patiently waited for a response and finally received it on the 5th of February 2018 from the sales consultant at Supa-quick advising me the tyre was assessed and there is no claim payable to me!!! This is utter nonsense how can a complete cut around the side wall not be a factory fault how is this possible for a one month old tyre to have these effects? Please could this be explained to me i have sworn by always fitting bridgestone tyres on my car but this experience has thoroughly changed my mind.

Please can i be explained how are these checks or assessments are done on claims? Please can i understand how this damage to the tyre was caused by penetration to the thread as indicated on the report.

The details are as follows for the claim: Report No: 20552 GRS#: ********** 5 Serial : 8WJ P6K 3017

I look forward to hearing from you ASAP.

Thanks Ashlin Marimuthu **********
