Shocked at Breville Service

After many years of purchasing various Breville appliances and always being able to enjoy them as they have always worked very well, we have now had an incident with a Breville Juicer/Blender that has really left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

We bought a brand new Breville Juicer/Blender on promotion at @Home Eastgate for R4 999-00 on 14 August 2015 and used it continuously for several months. When buying it the salesman, Mneli, told us that we cannot go wrong with Breville as if it breaks or has any faults it will be replaced without question. Yet, after 11 months it packed up. It worked for exactly 7 seconds and then cut out. We turned it off and it did it over and over again. After a few weeks it suddenly stopped doing this and we went away on holiday. After getting back from 6 weeks holiday, I turned the Breville on again and it started the same problem of cutting out after 7 seconds. On 21 October 2016 I took the Breville in to @Home at Easgate and Mneli said as the year warranty was over he would have to send it away for repairs.

After having it for 4 weeks and me chasing after it the past 10 days, I phoned once again today, 21 November 2016 and managed to speak to Mneli. He advised me that Breville quoted him R2 300-00 to have it reparied. A new one on promotion is now costing R3 900-00.

I called Joburg Service Repair Dept and spoke to Amanda, she in turn gave me the Cape Town number and told me to speak to Lorraine or Julianne. I called their numbers and left messages and have yet to receive a return phonecall. Not only is their after service shocking, but they dont even have the decency to return a phonecall.

When I returned the Breville the Mneli advised that it was the 2nd Blender that was returned with the same complaint and it appeared to be a factory fault.

How can I be charged R2 300-00 for a factory fault. This doesnt say too much for Breville does it???

I will NEVER recommend Breville or buy another Breville appliance going forward. I think its better to deal with Russel Hobbs as their after sales service is absolutely amazing and they are not scared to admit if its their fault or not.

Lets see how much Breville values their name in the market !!!
