Breakers Resort should shut down!!

The worst holiday resort!! Dear readers, please take into account all this information and experiences before making the decision of staying at the breakers resort in Umhlanga Rocks. As a vacationer and loyal first group supporter. I have been to numerous resorts around Durban and South Africa. Breakers Resort has more rules than activities. If you're a smoker, you much rather stay home. All smokers including staff is restricted to smoke in a tiny room. After 10 pm the smoking area is closed and lights around the resort is turned off. The pool is only opened between 9am - 5pm. After that lights are turned off and poorly heated pool is ice cold. You are not allowed to swim without the correct swim wear, eating outside foods around the resort is prohibited and you are only allowed to eat in your room. Walking around the resort after 10 pm is prohibited and you are restricted to your rooms. If you do come out, you will be in complete darkness as the resort closes until 7:30am. The staff members are incredibly rude and unfriendly. There is only one restaurant at the resort and the food is disgusting. We ordered a pizza that tasted like a flavorless bread. We asked for garlic and parmesan cheese, we were told the pizza does come with that. A single pizza is around R200. The freshly baked cakes tasted like hard scones and tasted terribly. The rooms were small and smelt disgusting. Most rooms don't have a balcony and the bathrooms were damaged and not well maintained. The bedings and sheets were disgusting and have stains of yellow and red marks. The blankets were itchy and caused my husband to get a pink eye. The pool itself was dirty and green algae covered the walls of the pool. The braai area was the sadest part of the resort. There is no braai area in your apartment as there are no balconies. All guest have to fight for the usage of 3 braai stands. Overall, this overly priced resort doesn't live up to its price or Google images. The staff will make you stay in your room until your stay is over. The restrictions will give you prison vibes and the bedings will make you sick, that's if the reef Cafe doesn't make you sick first. My advice, take your money and book a different resort if you want to enjoy your holiday.
