False Advertising and No Service
I would like to express my dismay regarding a purchase of a Toyota Corolla 1.4D Prestige at this branch. The car was advertised on various sites with an odo reading of 105 000km. When I received the car on 26 August, the odometer reading was 115 590. The distance from Sandton to Kuruman is +- 526km, which is a 10 000km difference than advertised. Since I have received the car I have only added 2500km. As you can see it would have taken myself a while to add 10 000km to the clock if I had bought it with the advertised odo of 105 000km. This information was utterly misleading, and now the car is much closer to it’s major service than I had budgeted before purchasing it. Upon receipt of the car the car randomly had an oil light that came on which I reported to the salesman immediately. He asked me to check the oil level, because if there wasn’t oil in, it meant the service department did not do their job correctly, and it must be sorted out. Furthermore, the salesman repeatedly stated that the car was JUST serviced before delivery, to this statement I have two witnesses. I had the car inspected and it was short of TWO litre's of oil, the oil left in the car was very black, a definite indication that the car was indeed NOT serviced as recently as he had claimed. I could not find any trace of a recent (just before delivery) service in either the book of life or on the e-book of life, and the last known service was 105 000km. After requesting proof of the “recent” service, he sent me the proof of the 105 000km service, that was done in January 2020. How can he expect oil to last that long without checking it at all? I do want to note that I am aware of the fact that the car was not due for a 15 000km / 1 year service, but the salesman was adamant that the car was serviced JUST before delivery. The fact that there was little to NO oil left in the car, brings me to the conclusion that there was no “Stringent Quality Checks” as promised when buying from Automark, or any sort of inspection done prior to leaving Bryanston Toyota. The interior was extremely dirty (I did mention that to my customer care call that I received after the purchase) as well as small cuts in the front tyres, which causes the right side tyre to actually leak air - I can provide images with the dates taken as proof, that it was not damage caused whilst in my possession.
I had managed to get hold of the Automark Manager on 02 February 2021 but he has not fulfilled his promises to resolve the situation.
This is our 3rd vehicle that we have purchased through Automark because of the excellent and quality service that we receive but I regret ever doing business with this branch.
