NO REFUND ON MY LAYBY

I have layby some lingerie at Bras n Things in Centurion and i went to the store to pay for my layby and was told it was expired and then i asked if i can take something with the money that i have already paid and i was told i cant and i asked for refund and also was told that Bras and Things don't do any refunds, how i don't understand. I asked the lady to show me in their Layby policy so i can understand as some retailers charge the 10% fee and refund you the remaining amount and unfortunately she couldn't assist, she only told me that they are not allowed to refund the monies payed by the customers when the layby has expired. Bras and Things i need my money as your items were kept in store and even when the layby has expired you still have your items back and sold them. So must i loose my money? For what?
