Lecturer refuses to admit mistake and give mark
I recently wrote a Mathematical Literacy test through the online education service Brainline. The question asked what the probability of picking a boy that preferred tennis was. There are a total of 250 students (boys and girls), 104 boys. When I used 104 as the total in my answer the examiner refused to correct her mistake on the memo and marked my answer wrong. How can you include girls when you're asked to look for a boy specifically? There are only 104 boys total so to find the probability of boys that prefer tennis you divide the amount of boys that prefer tennis (32) by the total amount of boys (104). Hester simply refused to admit that she made a mistake by saying that I must divide by 250 in my answer. I e-mailed her requesting her to award that mark to me but she has ignored my e-mails so I must take to hellopeter to sort this out as her refusal to accept her mistake affects my academic results and future. Hopefully this gets sorted out soon as this is not the first time I have had problems with Brainline.

Picking a boy out of the group you use the denominator 250. The word \boy\" is an indication to the learner that he/she needs to look at the row for boys to find the total for tennis out of the group. If you use 104 as a denominator your probability answer would be bigger therefore indicating that you exclude all the girls from the picking...which was not stated in the question.
