INSURANCE

So I bought a glass TV stand and coffee table set. On the day when I purchased these I was convinced to take insurance just in case these get broken which I did. Few months later the coffee table glass broke so obviously I went to the store to report this well to my surprise when I got there I was told that they can't replace nor fix the glass cause insurance doesn't cover glass. My question is why wasn't this explained to me before I took insurance so basically I'm paying for steel which will never get broken whatsoever. So their insurance covers something that they no has zero chance of breakage which is retarded if you ask me. I feel like this should have been explained to me in details other wise I wouldn't have bothered taking insurance. It is totally unfair to us consumers as I feel like I am paying for nothing, I feel ****** :(
