Dear Peter, In October 2024, I bought an Argo Seal bed set from Bradlows Witbank for R8,799. Soon after, the mattress sank, causing discomfort. It was exchanged, but the replacement had the same fault. I then upgraded to a Seal Belize, which also failed, and it too was replaced with no improvement. I finally upgraded to a Restonic Ballito base set valued at R7,651.30—less than the original price. When I requested the difference refunded, I was told “it doesn’t work that way,” despite being told earlier that if the value was higher, I’d need to pay the difference. Under the Consumer Protection Act (Section 56), I’m entitled to defect-free goods and fair remedies, including refunds when replacements are of lower value.
