Braaiplank.co.za False advertising

I believe braaiplank.co.za are making themselves guilty of false advertising. They have been running a special on a skillet available for a limited period.

When I saw this I were immediately interested and order one online. I added two other items and paid . Within minutes I received an email confirming my order.

A couple of minutes later I recieved another email indicating that they are paki g the order and this would be a good opportunity to add to my original order as there is space available in the package.

Two days later I received an email stating that unfortunately they have no stock of the one item (Skillet) I ordered and if I can provide them with my banking details for a refund.

I then went onto Facebook and Instagram where the advert were running and saw it stated that there is still units available.

I questioned this sending a screen shot and the email stating that my order has been packed and there is space available.

The email came back stating the address used is incorrect. I uploaded the same query on WhatsApp.

I told them that I believe they are busy with false advertising and that they sell items they know is not available. I also threatened to report them with the adverti*****t Ombudsman.

On Monday I received an email interested in my banking details only. I asked them twice about the rest of the order with no response or interest from there side.

I also received a reply on WhatsApp not answering my concern. They eventually indicated they will do a refund in my account.

So even if you believe people have your interest at heart they don't really care.

There ways has made me never to use them again. I will also never have a good word for braaiplank.co.za

Hi Jaco,

Just to reassure you upfront — your order was fully refunded on 7 July via Payflex, exactly the same method you used to pay. No charges were kept, and the transaction was completely reversed when you chose not to wait for the next stock batch.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m truly sorry that the situation left you feeling misled. I understand how disappointing it is to place an order, receive confirmations, and then discover that one of the items can’t be dispatched immediately.

I reviewed your order from 2 July, which included the BraaiPlank™ “Beenlem” Boning Knife, the Hammer Forged Butcher Knife, and the Frying Pan Skillet. At the time you purchased, the skillet was part of a pre-order campaign, not an in-stock item ready for immediate shipping. All advertising for that promotion was tied to pre-orders, and the product pages reflected the expected ship dates — something we encourage customers to verify, especially when we run limited batches.

When we reached out to explain that the skillet wasn’t available for immediate dispatch, you decided not to wait for the next production run and requested a refund. We processed that refund in full on 7 July. I’m sorry that our communication around this wasn’t clearer, and that your concerns about the advertising weren’t fully addressed at the time.

We do wish the experience had gone differently, especially since stock became available shortly after your cancellation. If you ever decide to give us another chance, the skillet is expected to be back in stock in early 2026, and you would be very welcome to order again then.

Sincerely,
Ced @ BraaiPlank
