Water in Petrol contamination after fill up at BP Bluff , Tara rd
On the 24th March I filled up my tank at BP garage,Tara rd,Bluff,Durban. Immediately after, I started the car and it 'choked' several times before restarting. I went home later and by the next morning it refused to start up all.I had it towed and was informed by the panel beater who did a manual diagnosis that there was water found in the petrol tank and gave me a sample. My insurance company,Outsurance, informed me they do not cover contamination. After laying out some cash to the panel beater, I contacted the Manager at BP, Keith, who was initially fairly aloof. I explained my case, wrote it down and was told that he would investigate and revert. Weeks and weeks passed by and I was without a car, taking uber everywhere at my own expense. Finally, after some months, Keith calls me to meet him at the garage and seems more accommodating than the initial meeting. Although he stated his desire to keep me as a customer and resolve the issue, there was no commitment to pay my cost. I had no desire for lawyers to get involved, simply requested my costs reimbursed and the remaining repairs done. But he refused, insisting they were in the clear and that they checked their petrol daily, even though a formal test result was not completed ad handed to me.
That was our last encounter, a stalemate. My car, a 2002 Mercedes-Benz has been off the road since then as a result of this damage. I also invited him to contact the panel beater to explain the extent of the damage in detail, took a sample of the petrol with water, and the receipt of the day. He did not.
I lodged an online complaint in BPs website bit have not received a single response.
On what level, can this be acceptable. I have been more than patient, but this incident has costed me immensely.
BP has completely lost my support and respect.
