Urgent Complaint Regarding Vehicle Damage at BP Garage on 25th October 2024

I am writing to formally express my frustration and concern regarding the significant damage sustained to my vehicle at your BP Garage on the 25th of October 2024 as well as the manner in which my situation has been handled.

On the 25th of October, I visited the BP Garage on Grayston driver where I filled a full tank of fuel. I then asked the petrol attendant to check my water and oil. He did this and confirmed that all was fine and I left the garage. On my home, I noticed some steam coming out of the front of the car, but I made it home safely. In the morning, I drove to work and realized something was wrong with the vehicle as it had started overheating and showing the water warning sign. I pulled into another garage where it was discovered that the water tank had not been closed and I had been driving with it open. They assisted me in putting water in the vehicle and I made it to work.

I called the BP Garage at this point And spoke to Elizabeth who requested that I send the receipt as well as the details of my vehicle to then to track.

On my way home from work, the car started overheating again and I decided to pull over and stop driving the vehicle. At this point, I called BP to let them know my car was stuck and I needed to be towed to the nearest service centre. I waited about 30 minutes with no word from them after which I called my own insurance company to assist me in towing the vehicle to the nearest Ford service center. I advised BP that this is where the vehicle had been towed.

Ford did an initial diagnostics on the vehicle and advised that the water tank including the pump had been damaged. There were many leaks in vehicle that Ford would need to fix first before checking whether the engine was damaged. They then issued a quotation for repair work to the engine as well as the leaks. BP’s insurance ( Garage Sure)has taken over a month to finalise my claim. Each time, they ask for new documents.

It has been 42 days since this incident occurred and I still have not received a resolution to this matter. I have incurred many costs for Uber while being without a vehicle. I have missed important events for my children due to lack of transportation and the mounting Uber costs.

Each time I speak to Solly, the owner of BP Garage, he is the most vile and inhumane person I have ever dealt with. At some point, he even threaten to cancel my claim with his insurance company when I asking for a reimbur*****t of my Uber costs.

I am appalled by the lack of care and responsibility shown the BP owner, Solly as well as the broker appointed by Garage Sure ( Jaco), as the damage is clearly a result of negligence BP’s staff.

Given the circumstances, I am demanding an immediate investigation into this matter and request that you provide me with an appropriate resolution, including compensation for the damages incurred.

I trust that you will take this complaint seriously and act swiftly to resolve this matter to my satisfaction.

Yours sincerely, Gugulethu Buthelezi ***
