Petrol in Diesel Vehicle

On the morning of 17 Nov 2016, I stopped to fill my Fortuner at BP Gallo Manor with Diesel, I asked the attendant to fill up with R500 diesel.

I paid using my Petrol Card and received a receipt which stated that I was charged for Diesel giving me comfort that my tank was filled with Diesel.

I proceeded to work which is close by. That evening I drove home and on the way home, my vehicle cut out and would not start again. I eventually managed to get it to Toyota the next day 18 Nov 2016.

They did a diagnostic on the vehicle and phoned me around midday to inform me that my vehicle has been filled with Petrol instead of Diesel. I proceeded to try and get hold of BP Gallo Manor to inform them of the situation via phone with no luck.

I eventually went to BP Gallo Manor to speak to the manager. He was not on site and the cashier informed me that they do not have a number for him. Which was very strange. They gave me the general store number and I got hold of them only the following week.

My vehicle had to spend 4 days at Toyota to get it repaired.

The manager of BP Gallo Manor, has been very rude in his initial responses to me, accusing me of not checking that the attendant is doing his job properly. And a few times had put the phone down without saying goodbye.

I am a regular customer of BP and do not expect / appreciate the way this has been handled so far.

I expect BP to pay for my damages in full and refund me for the Petrol that was put in my tank for which I was charged as Diesel.

BP Gallo Manor has offered to only pay for half of the damages excluding the incorrect fuel. I am not happy with this.
