It is time to get rid of petrol pump attendants!

Currently in South Africa an obscure law protects petrol pump attendants. That same people that is directly PAID for by each and every motorist in South Africa. This is coming a while but there is this absolute attitude from these attendants to see how far they can provoke you to see if you re-act. Such an occasion was at your BP service station in Waterkloof Ridge. I got there to put air in my tires, absolute not expecting anything from the attendants. In fact I told them I want air and climb out to do it myself. In rush the one attendant and grab the air hose just as I want to take hold of it. Now that is strike one. However making slurs in his language, that I do understand, was strike two. I told the one that came to service me that he does not need to bother because I am leaving and will never come back! This is just one of the many incident we experience every day at this and stations in general. Just to mention a few: • Please fill up the car – means for the attendant NO I will not because it take time and I rather sit and do nothing than service the clients. • Caps are not put back. But it is according to your signs my responsibility! Really why do I as motorist contribute to his pay? • We don’t even talk about dragging your feet, sitting around and ignoring motorist to service. • In South Africa the price of petrol is regulated. The only edge and service station have is service, but it seems that the lack of service is the norm of the day. • I travelled the world and in most countries I just had to fill up the rental, no issue, no fuzz AND NO SPECIAL TRAINING REQUIRED AS YOUR PRETROLIUM ORGANISATION STATES every time this issue comes up The South African public is paying a huge price for these attendance that hide behind an obscure old law. Well I hide between my law that states I have the freedom of choice and that means I will drive right pass you stations and go elsewhere. Just as the consumer is slowly bringing most parastatals to their knees, will we bring this senseless law to its knees and will we hopefully soon have the choice to put in our own petrol by choice!
