Damage to private property and Defamation of character towards a client
On the 08 December 2019 at pass 3am or pass 4am was on my way to drop off some family members at home. I then decided used the BP petrol station at promenade in Mitchell’s plain. One of the employees approached me in order to assist. I have asked for R150 diesel and informed him that I will be using my card. I have mentioned diesel multiple times. He put the pump into my car and walked away. At the time I assumed that he went to fetch the card machine. The pump stopped at R144.03 which was a bit funny to me as I have asked for R150, I then said its ok as it was too early in the morning and was a bit afraid because of the surrounding area. The employee tried swiping my card but for some reason there was a problem with the machine I offered to go to the front of the shop and get out of my car. The transaction went through, I then bought something at the garage and went back to my car. When I tried to start my car it did not want to start. I immediately called the individual and asked,” What did you put into my car as it did not want to start”. He when back to the window and checked the receipt and his supervisor came to my car window and answered Petrol. At that time I was livid as I have asked for diesel not petrol. I then told the supervisor I want my car fixed now. Another manager came and spoke to me, he tried getting hold of the machine but he was not answering and came back to tell me my car must overnight in front of the garage. I told him that my husband was on his way and he should wait until then. My husband when back later that morning at 10am to checked on the car. On his arrival the mechanic has started to flash the car. When the mechanic was done he started the car. When everything was done, my husband asked for a receipt of what was done on the car. The supervisor on shift was extremely rude and unprofessional towards my husband. He even mentioned that the two ladies in the car was drunk and that they did not ask for diesel. This is a summary of what has happened but this will not be the end, as I will be opening up a civil case of defamation of character and damage to private property. He had no right to make such allegations towards a person without any evidence. I was livid to hear what the supervisor has said just to cover a mistake coursed by an employee. To top it off the supervisor on shift was telling us about the previous occasions the same employee put in petrol instead of diesel. I’m disgusted with how this was dealt with. I used this petrol station even morning on my way to work and never experience the type of service I did or was ever treated like that. I was the one who was inconvenienced by your employee’s action and had to make alternatively arrangements and also had to carry the cost.
