Customer Complaint - BP Service Station Anchorville (Lenasia - Gauteng) Appalling Service

Customer Complaint - BP Service Station Anchorville (Lenasia - Gauteng) Appalling Service

To whom it may concern

I am a regular customer at the BP Service Station based in Anchorville, Lenasia...I reside in Lenasia South which is approximately 10km's away and although there are four BP Service stations in my locality, I make it my duty to specifically support the service Station in Anchorville, Lenasia by filling fuel here on a weekly basis on route to drop my daughter off at school.

I have never had a service related issue here before over the past several months of which I have been supporting them but today was the worst experience ever which left me feeling extremely unvalued and humiliated as a customer to say the very least. At approximately 7am this morning I drove into the service station to fill fuel and I was approached by a very unfriendly, abrupt, rude and arrogant attendant whom I later found out was named Sam. He approached me at my driver's side door without without even a smile on his face and just stood there staring straight into my face. I waited for a friendly greeting but seeing as I wasn't getting any I asked him why doesn't he greet the customer...he then gave me a frown and in a very abrupt and loud tone of voice he rep**** back saying that he did greet me and I never heard him. I said to him that he is lying because I was watching him approach my car and I neither saw or heard him greet me. In an elevated and rude tone of voice he started shouting and screaming at me telling me that I must put my radio off then I will hear him. I was shocked at his reply and said to him that I do not like his attitude or his tone for that matter. I told him that the volume on my car radio was very low and if he did indeed greet me I would have heard him...I told him that the least he could do was lift his hand to wave at me but he just kept on screaming and shouting saying that he is busy so what do I want him to do. I asked him what is he busy with and he said that he is holding the Verifone card machine in his hand...I was shocked at his response nevertheless I said to him that he could hold the machine on one hand and wave at me with his other hand instead of arguing with me and giving me attitude. In a very abrupt manner and with a show of hands he then turned and walked away from me saying that he will not help me and that I must get somebody else to help me. I was speechless...as he was walking away from me he was screaming and yelling at his colleagues whilst pointing at me. I think he was speaking in Zulu so I could not understand what he was saying but it was clearly evident that he was talking about me. He continued to do so even after entering the service office/staff room!

I felt humiliated whilst he was going on screaming and yelling because the station was relatively busy...I felt mistreated and not valued as a regular customer. Never before have I been treated in this manner and never before have I experienced such pathetic service levels. I was appalled at his attitude and furious at the same time so I got out of my car and approached the cashiers office where I asked to see the manager but they told me that there was no manager on duty. As I was making my way back to my car he still had the nerve to tell me that his name is Sam and I said to him that I will report him but then he started yelling in Zulu and telling me to "Voetsek!"

Sam has no customer service skills whatsoever...not even the very basic of skills i.e to simply offer a friendly greeting, apologise and show gratitude. After receiving such poor levels of service, feeling humiliated and mistreated as a loyal customer, it is needless to say that I will never support this service station again or any BP outlet for that matter! Sam's representation of BP indicates that you do not value your customers or their support! The very fact that you do not have a manager on duty for issues as such, amongst others, suggests that you have no interest in service excellence!

Terribly disgusted
