BP Poor Diesel50 Quality Cost me R1400! Very upset!!

My wife drives a Hyundai Creta, and we only fill up at BP Aerodrome drive in Northmead, Benoni, or the BP on Miles Sharp street in Rynfield.

She last filled up at the BP Aerodrome drive.

She was driving around and the car cut out. It was on the highway. She pulled over, and started the car, but now terrified because the road was so busy and she had to move off the road with a car that wasn’t on – so no power, no power stearing, brakes, nothing – she almost had an accident because of the little control over the car. She called me and was crying – I said it’s fine, just start the car and drive again. She did this, but it cut out again. She then drove very slowly home and said she can’t drive that car anymore because she’s so scared that it will stop when crossing a road, or if the kids are in the car. I thought she was over-reacting.

So I drove the car, which was fine until I overtook someone and put my foot down, the car reduced in power as if I had taken my foot off the pedal. It was bizarre. Now I was worried and really thought my car was broken, after we had looked after it so pristinely since we bought it new.

So we took the car to Hyundai and they drove it around – and they had the same problem. They just called me and said the fuel was full of particulates, and was dirty – and when you put your foot down and the car wants more fuel, the thing is blocked, so it doesn’t get the fuel and it loses power or switches off. They said I must only use diesel 50 or 10, and of course we only ever used diesel 50, and only ever at the two stations mentioned.

So now I have to pay them to clean up the thing that is blocked by the dirty fuel and it’s a lot of money because this is not included in the service plan, it’s not a fault of the car, and it’s because of the poor fuel quality.

I feel completely let down by BP. We support only you, with both of our cars, and we trusted you to provide clean fuel.

Just wanted to let you know – it is not acceptable to sell such expensive fuel when it is of such poor quality that it messes up a person’s car. This is people’s lives we are talking about.
