THEFT AT BOSSA

My friend and I went for dinner and watch the soccer game at Bossa Nova on Saturday evening (7th July 2018, non-smoking section) , just before the soccer match ended around 10:45 pm I forgot my phone (iphone6s) in the table. When I went back to enquire about my phone I was told that no one saw the phone, however the duty manager alluded that this was third missing phone in one week. Waiters at Bossa clean immediately after customers leave ( take off) to prepare for the upcoming customers. This is done immediately especially for a busy Saturday like this one since the soccer game between Russia and Croatia was on.

98 % of south Africans have smart phones, cellphone theft is not a popular violence as it has been 10-15 years ago in South Africa when cellphones were still new in the market. This has been a HUGE shock. Two weeks ago a similar incident happened to a friend of mine as we had lunch at busy coffee shop in Claremont. We were almost outside the coffee shop when the waiter called my friend to inform her that she was leaving a cellphone behind . This was an amazing ethical gesture of a workplace that harness honesty & safety amongst the staff that serve us.

The managers at BOSSA should allude the message about *****ing as I think this is an inside job. The problem with *****ing for clients and customers is that for the ***** this may escalate from cell phones into ***** and perhaps *****ing stock. The *****/s has to be very smart to do this because he figured out that no one will follow up on this incident even after taking three cell phones. I think there should be accountability from the managers to the waiters (staff) regarding *****ing . As managers you can create an ethical culture by also communicating and introducing policies of displinary action against those who ***** at work whether it is to a customer or it is for the business .

The problem with THEFT is that the behaviour escalates from one activities to the other with the success of not being caught. This is the 3rd chain store to operate in that premise after rebranding three times, I love the food and the atmosphere . It will be sad to see this business lack sustainability with *****ing being one of the factors .

I might have lost my phone but I believe that something should be done.
