I currently reside in George and plan to move into our newly built retirement unit in Val de Vie, Evergreen, Paarl in March. In January 2026,I requested a quote for 5 new ceiling fans to be installed in my new home in Paarl. Despite a number of follow-up requests for the quote, I failed to receive one. I then approached an alternative contractor who was extremely efficient in responding with a quote and pictures of the fans he recommended. I awarded the job to this contractor who, whilst the fans were on order from his supplier, proceeded with the wiring for the fans. A day or two later an installer from Boss Electrical arrived and, under false pretences, promptly fitted 5 fans using the wiring installed by the contractor I had appointed. The authorised contractor arrived a day later to install the fans I had approved only to find 5 "foreign" fans in place, He then phoned me to tell me the story. I instructed him to remove the unauthorised fans (for which he charged me R1000 to do) and instructed him to install the fans I had ordered. On the very same day I received a quote from Boss Electrical for the supply and installation of the (inferior in quality) fans, including the wiring! I contacted Boss expressing my disapproval of their business ethics and all I received was an email apology and a request for one of their managers to visit me to clear the air, which is not possible as I currently reside in George and I have no interest in meeting with anyone who operates in this manner. All I want from them is to reimburse the R1000 which I had to pay out due to their poor business practices/lack of ethics. This has fallen on deaf ears. Their fans are still in my possession and will be released to them once they've paid the R1000, unnecessarily incurred by me.
