Never again!

On the 26th September I went to Boss Auto Spares to purchase a Disa Valve for my BMW E46 M54 320I. I spoke to one of the sales reps who showed me the picture on their website that matched my car and I purchased it thinking this was the correct part, assuming that they knew what I required for my vehicle since they dealt with auto spares daily. When I got home and attempted to fit the Disa valve into the air intake of my vehicle, it stuck out of the air intake by 5mm and I found out through some youtube videos that this part that I purchased was meant for a BMW e46 330I and not a 320I, due to the length of the flap house being longer than the ‘broken’ one. I then had to fix the original Disa valve on my car and managed to get in to work. When I took the part back to Boss Auto Spares on Monday afternoon, the 28th of September, I was told that they will not give me a refund on the part as it is an electrical item and as part of their new terms and conditions, they no longer do returns or refunds on electrical parts. I find this incredibly annoying, as I was not the person who chose the incorrect part, the sales rep sold me the incorrect part. The same sales rep told me that unfortunately his hands are tied! When I asked to speak to the owner or management, I was told the owner is on holiday and will only be back the coming Monday, the 5th of October 2020. This then means I will not even qualify to return the part within 7days from date of purchase as part of their new terms and conditions. I’m extremely appalled at the lack of training the sales reps have, the non-existence of striving to achieve a satisfactory standard or level of customer satisfaction, even after lockdown, and the lack of maintenance in cataloging of their parts on their website accurately. The whole experience has left a very bad impression of a SME looking to ***** you out of your hard earned money and they couldn’t be bothered in the least. I’m left with no other choice but to file a complaint with the Consumer Goods and Services Ombudsman on this regarding this complaint and the legal validity of Boss Auto Spares terms and conditions in relation to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. If you have experienced any issues similar to mine with Boss Auto Spares, please submit a written complaint via this link: https://prod.respondselfserve.com/***b96c44be7b21aa1c8ca911601/747d***a9eaef72ce***/index.html Please support another auto spares business that tries their level best to make you, the customer, happy.
