Siemens coffee machines poor quality
I have owned 3 top of the range Siemens branded automatic expresso coffee machines, EQ7 Plus (TE706509DE), EQ8 (TE806201RW) and now the latest EQ6 (TE655203RW) ) in succession. The EQ7 and the EQ8 suffered from a dysfunctional display and control knob, if you set it to a particular function like "expresso" it would after a second or two jump all on its own to another function, like "cappuccino". All of the 3 machines had the same "empty tray" software error, that stops the coffee preparation and requires the user to empty the tray even when the tray is empty. The circuit will only reset after you remove the tray physically for a minute. In addition, The EQ8 developed a short in the boiler heating circuit after only 2 years of use requiring a 3.500 Rand repair, including for the faulty display module. The technicians know about the display module manufacturing or design fault but BSH is not allowed to replace the faulty modules free of charge. On the brand new EQ6 the milk foaming malfunctioned from day one and could only foam full fat milk. A replacement of the so-called ceramic milk valve fixed the problem thanks to the very competent and friendly technicians at the BSH repair centre in Midrand. But the big challenge for them is that the company does not want to spend money on keeping spares. So every spare part has to be ordered from Germany taking some 4 to 6 weeks to arrive in SA. So clearly, a business that abuses its monopoly as a sole agent to render a bad service for products that are designed and manufactured without appropriate quality control. Siemens should stop Bosch from continuing to use and abuse the good Siemens Brand name.
