They *****ed up and won't repair the damage

On 20th March 2017 the company Tsitsi Boreholes (Pty) Ltd t/a E C Drilling / Boreholes4all were engaged to drill a borehole at my private home and residence at 2 Richelieu street, Courtrai Paarl.

I paid them a deposit of R 20,000.00 on the 21st.On the 22nd of March they proceeded to commence drilling at my site.

On the 23rd March the job was, according to them, completed. According to their invoice #161 they had drilled 100 meters into the ground and installed 48 meters of steel casing. The drill master (Juan) informed me that they had realised +/- 1,500 litres per hour from the well. The total invoice cost of the well ran to R 58,520.00.

The balance was paid into their account on the 23rd March.

I requested a quote for the installation of a submersible pump in the well. Tsitsi provided a quote (#2017-368) on the 23rd. Our previous overpayment on their account was shown as a deduction (deposit) on this quote. I accepted their quote on the same day and gave them the “go ahead” to complete the work as soon as possible.

Over the ensuing month I was made numerous unfulfilled promises regarding the installation of the submersible pump installation. On the 17th April, I received a very agressive phone call from Jacques at Tsitsi, informing me that they would no longer be in a position to do the submersible pump installation and that I had to find an alternative installer.

On the 18th April, I received a phone call from Henk at Waterwell Pumps cc offering his services to me. He had been recommended to me by Juan form Tsitsi. He provided me with a quote and I engaged him to do the submersible pump installation as soon as possible.

On Friday the 21st of April, Henk and his team arrived to install my submersible pump. When the pump was lowered into the well it was discovered that the steel casing had either been damaged or dislodged by Tsitsi in efforts to remove their trapped drill head from the well on completion of their drilling operations. The steel casing consequently had not properly sealed the well and it had therefore filled with mud and residue up to a level of 47 meters. The well was thus effectively, unusable.

Henk immediately contacted the drillers (Juan from Tsitsi) and informed them of the problem. They in turn, conceded that it was a problem that would need to be corrected.

After numerous telephonic engagements by Henk with Tsitsi,(Henk being a recognised expert in this field) I issued a final demand by e-mail to Tsitsi Boreholes on the 24th April 2017. They ignored this request.

After a substantial period of time with no reaction by Tsitsi, I engaged my lawyer who sent them a notice on the 12 May 2017.

To date there has been no satisfactory response from Tsitsi Boreholes (Pty) Ltd.

In my humble opinion, I think that these people are exploiting the current drought situation in the Western Cape. Households, such as myself are resorting to boreholes in an effort to water our gardens and even, eventually supply our household needs.

FALSE ACCUSATIONS! We have a waiting period of +/- 4 weeks from the acceptance of the quote up to the installation of borehole. Mr Perold paid his deposit and a few hours later we started with his borehole installation. What a bargain and privilege he didn't even had to wait for more then a month for us to start! As a drilling contractor we don't make the ground and ground formations, we only make the hole in the ground and deal with what we get when busy drilling. We, as the drilling process progresses, handle the borehole and make recommendations to the client. Mr Perold was part of the drilling process and was there all of the time whilst drilling. We did tell him that we need to install more steel casing in the borehole due the ground formations found. He wasn't to pleased about it because he said now the borehole is more expensive than he originally bargained for and that he is a pensioner and can't really afford that much. We as drilling contractor can only recommend what have to do and if a client don't have the funds and aren't able to install what we recommend and his budget allows what are we suppose to do.? He said that more than once that he's on pension and we tried to help him get away with it by installing the 48m of steel casing and completed the drilling. He praised our team constantly saying how fast & efficient we work with such highly s****ed staff...so what now? Regarding the pump hereto referred, we had 0.5kW Pumps in stock and would have installed that, but Mr Perold said that he didn't want that pump and we need to get a 0.75kW pump to install. We contacted our suppliers requiring about a 0.75kW pump, but they didn't had any in stock since the current demand for pumps was so high and they were waiting for a shipment to come in. Meanwhile Mr Perold got impatient and wasn't at all understanding re the suppliers waiting for stock. He contacted us saying he will get someone else to do the installation. Not to long ago we received a letter from his lawyers demanding a solution for the borehole saying that the borehole was closed below 50m, or the total amount of R58'520 that he paid for the borehole back to him, which we in return wrote them a letter asking to request their client to get the needed steel casing and we will come and do the installation thereof. We also called the lawyer in person to explain that we are more than willing to come back and install the steel casing and that his client can even get it himself (to assist with sparing of costs) and we will do the installation, he confirmed that he will notify Mr Perold accordingly and revert back to us. Days later we received another letter from his lawyers saying that he doesn't want us to come and do anything and want all of the money back that he paid for the borehole. However if I read the headline of his review it says: "They *****ed up and won't repair the damage" which makes it difficult for us to understands what he actually wants to get out of this review, because we in person to himself and via his lawyer offered him a solution which he showed the door and here he writes that we won't come back and help him to get the borehole repaired??? The problem isn't with the borehole or the work that we've done it's not us as drilling contractors that made the ground or made the water flow beneath the earth but still the drilling contractor always is the one whom "****ed up", the borehole is open to the depth the casing went down. When offered a solution he threw it back and wanted his money back? So clearly it is a problem with the clients budget then rather then looking for solutions. Clients are fast to run to Hellopeter with all type of accusations and seldom recognise the hard work we do, trying to help where we can and not understanding that we didn't make the ground. Saying that we are only exploiting the current drought situation in the Western Cape are far fetched since we've been drilling in Cape Town and the whole of the Western Cape for the past 15 years already and our rates are better than most other companies. Out of the 1000's of boreholes drilled in the Western Cape Mr Perold is the only one that felt the need to place a review here....Just up in the street from Mr Perold and just around the corner down the road from him we also drilled boreholes in the same week, both with no problems? We have refrences for all the area's that we've worked in and are more than willing to send you referrals of all our customers. We pride ourselves in our business & having happy customers. Anyone whom have question regarding this review and Mr Perold's case are really more than welcome to contact me on *** and I will even send you all the proof on paper if it be needed.

Reviewer Update

Lies, lies and even more lies !

1) Why on earth would I have stopped the driller from installing the prerequisit casing. Surely that would have been to my own detriment !? They installed what was needed, no more, no less, with NO influence from my side. I am not a drilling expert ! They do however seem to neglect to mention how their drill head got stuck in the bottom of my well's casing. And the fact that it took them more than an hour to rip it out, damaging the casing in the process !!! This is what has caused the well to fill with leaked residue!

2) I do not understand the first sentence of their response. My attorneys also did not understand their response to our letter of demand. Let them please provide us with proof of the stated "quote". They have, in general been very crypric in their responses to us.

3) What do they purport to know about the funds that I have available. They are being very presumptious regarding this matter ! My financial position is none of their concern!

4) Regarding the submersible pump and the broken promises around this question : Yes I did request a larger, more powerfull pump and Jacques quoted me the price over the phone. They however, as can be gleaned from all the other (5) reports on hellopeter, stuck to form and started refusing to take my calls. That seems to be the manner in which they handle all difficulties.

5) I would suggest that this supplier actually read and understand hellopeter regarding their company. There were numerous other complaints some of which were settled only after hellopeter intervened on the customers' behalf.

6) And then the cracker !: I did NOT call them and announce that I was getting someone else to install my submersible pump! Jacques, in fact called me late on the evening of the 17th of April, swore at me (as is want for him - I have proof that he also swore at other clients) anouncing that they were no longer in a position to install my pump and that I should find someone else to do the job. My contention is that thet deliberately kept me at bay for almost a month, well knowing that they had damaged the casing and that there was a very goof chance that we would experince a resultant ingress of mud partially closing of ouir well. In fact, if they had come to do the instsallation as originally promissed (ie. one week), they would have happend upon the mess that they left, and that would have been exceedingly difficult for them to explain away. Furthermore, THEY recommended Waterwell Pumps offer their services to me. This indicates to me that that recognise his competence in these matters. We have gone forward with this action and acted solely on his findings.

7) I realise that thet did not make the earth, but thet certainly made a *****oo. If they have such pride in their work, why are their no less than 6 complaints against them on hellopeter?
