Subject: Corporate Exploitation vs. Small Business: My R196,000 Dispute with Booking.com As an accommodation host operating three properties in South Africa, I am sharing how Booking.com B.V.'s internal "system limitations" are actively causing severe financial duress to my business.Due to a documented clerical decimal-point error on a manual bank transfer on 4 April, I accidentally overpaid an invoice. Booking.com's finance department sent a formal written admission confirming they hold an unauthorized credit balance belonging to me of R196,392.73. Shockingly, their email states this balance "will not be reflected due to system limitations." Even worse, while holding nearly R200,000 of my operational business capital, Booking.com has suspended two of my listings (Veranda House and Pat's Place) for an alleged "non-payment" of a tiny R6,658.50 invoice. I have repeatedly authorized them to clear this balance from my massive surplus. They have refused, ignoring all communications while keeping my listings frozen. Holding a partner's capital against their will while simultaneously sabotaging their livelihood for an artificial default is a gross breach of business ethics and contract law.A formal complaint has been lodged with the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) in South Africa. I urge Glenn Fogel and the leadership team at Booking.com to urgently step in and rectify this compliance failure. #HospitalityIndustry #BookingCom #CorporateGovernance #SouthAfricaTourism #BusinessEthics #ConsumerProtection #GlennFogel
