Unfair cancelation policy

If you book through Booking.com you must be 100% sure that you will be able to travel. Not even a pandemic like Covid19 can ensure a refund. My wife and I were meant to tour Ireland in June last year. We booked a tour through Expat Tours, air tickets through Emirates and two nights accommodations in Dublin, prior and post our tour, through Booking. Com. Due Covid we had to postpone until 2021. Unfortunately Covid19 affected both our jobs and we are unable to travel. We had to cancel our trip. We are getting refunded by Emirates and Expat Tour. With Booking. Com we are forfeiting 100% of the amount paid due to the "rate we selected". We had to pay the full amount upfront. I find this unacceptable. In the future we will only book though Air B&B. They have a fair cancelation policy as well as a Covid policy.
